This private residential client purchased a wooded lot a short distance from town. They shared MMLP’s interest in dramatic design and sustainability. Also, they really desired a house that was sympathetic it’s setting – posed in front of a wooded ravine. In collaboration with MMLP, residential architects in Illinois, they identified a timber reclamation company that repurposed old barn and industrial structure timbers. Ultimately the house was designed around the framing bays or bents with infill of structural insulated panels. Several years later, the client brought the team back together for an addition to complete elements of the original design initially cut from the project.
